Checking in from Mile High

So I trudged out to Mile High with David Neiwert, Lindsay, and Ian (Spencer scored some great seats on the 50 Yard Line, so he’s here, but with a better seat); the line was miles long. Remarkably, there were only a handful of cops there–but everyone was pleasant and well-behaved.

We’ll be watching the proceedings from behind the ABC News tent, out in the sun. Right now, I’m posting from the blogger lounge, which is actually pretty swank but completely full already. Had I known the press file center would have both wired internet access and air conditioning, I would have come here first.

They’ve started with speakers and bands (the first band was a local bluegrass band).  And Michelle Obama did a paparazzi walk just below the press stands–Neiwert got a pretty good picture.

I’m going to head out and figure out how I get to the field to visit my peeps from Michigan. I probably won’t post again–this place is mobbed.

It sounds like more fun to go hang with all the people enjoying the fun. See you later.

Happy there’s a mob, actually, ew, although they can be a royal pain to navigate through & around. Hope ground control/security/etc. is up to the monumental job. Tonight will be exceptional, & your take on it later will bring us all there, to see & feel what you see & feel this evening.

OT- I’m headed this evening to Slidell LA & parts north of it (Baton Rouge & St. Francisville) to visit friends this Labor Day wknd. Crazy, yeah? Will Gustav spare the Gulf Coast? Will the Fed Gov give a flying fucking anything if it doesn’t? Oh, right, Karl Rove think it’s all about the RNC.
Will post in threads when I can. At least this time I’ll be there, instead of wondering WTF is happening to folks I care about.

I kinda think I’m glad I don’t live there any longer as I lived v-e-r-y close to the stadium and would most likely be perturbed at all the disruption in my neighborhood.

Ah, OK, thanks. Yonder Mountain would be just right for the Obama Generation. From nearby Nederland, they are what is called a “jam band“, which is just perfect for Obamamania. Sounds like they have a better fix on the music scene than the folks at the Convention Hall.

OK now I know Spencer Ackerman IDs the band as the “Mountain Bluegrass Band”, but there’s gotta be a word missing from just before or just after the word “Mountain,” methinks. Mountain Heart? Broke Mountain? Rocky Mountain?
