Tuesday Morning: Guidance to Be True

Now an oldie but goodie, this Fiona Apple ditty. The subtle undertow of irony seems fitting today.

Speaking of guidance…

Google’s self-driving car went boom
Oops. Autonomous vehicles still not a thing when they can’t avoid something the size of a bus. Thank goodness nobody was hurt. Granted, until now Google’s self-driving test cars were not the cause of accidents — human drivers have been at fault far more often. In this particular accident, both the car and the human test driver may have been at fault.

VW’s CEO Mueller spins the (PR) wheels on agreement with U.S.
This is now a habit: before every major international automotive show, VW’s Matthias Mueller grants an interview to offer upbeat commentary on the emissions standards cheating scandal, this time ahead of the 2016 Geneva International Auto Show. Not certain if this is helping at all; there’s not much PR can do when no truly effective technical fix exists while potential liability to the U.S. alone may approach $46 billion. Probably a better use of my time to skip Mueller’s spin and spend my time slobbering over the Bugatti Chiron. ~fanning self~

Apple all the time

#YearInSpace ends this evening for astronaut Scott Kelly
Undocking begins at 7:45 p.m. EST with landing expected at 11:25 p.m. EST, barring any unforeseen wrinkles like negative weather conditions. NASA-TV will cover the event live. Can’t wait to hear results of comparison testing between Scott and his earth-bound twin Mark after Scott’s year in space.

Department of No

That’s enough for now. I’m off to be a bad, bad girl. Stay safe.

Something fishy in the Google car vs bus story. From the story the google car made a wide turn that put it in the through lane the bus was in. There’s not much ambiguity in that. Google expected the bus to yield to the car because? Geezer as model for self driving car may not be a great idea.

First time in my life I’ve ever rooted for Apple. Way to go geeks.

Same here. Never was a fan, but I hope their team kicks the FBI’s proverbial ass.

Meanwhile, speaking of scum sucking power grabbing cockroaches, more evidence get’s released, bit by tasty morsel bit, proving one of the USG war criminals who pushed the CIA to become one of Satin’s little helpers after 9/11, also did his damndest to hide their assassination escapades during the Ford administration. I bet you can guess his name…

Wait till some one either gets hurt or even killed by one in the not to distant future, when millions of these autonomous robots are roaming the highways and byways of the planet. And then there will certainly be insurance fraudsters who will find a way to get “not so hurt” but rich. But we’ll see.

quote”VW’s CEO Mueller spins the (PR) wheels on agreement with U.S.”

You might as well quit wasting time. No different than “to big to fail” financial terrorists. Same ole shit..different industry. They’ll simply take financial hit but no one will see the inside of a prison cell.

At least they had a win. Unfortunately..like Greenwald says..it’s not “binding”. fuck Another appeal, another jurisdiction may be more acquiescent to gov. Let’s hope not. On a side note, although the Apple/FBI story is more important, just like the Oscar’s…I’m sick of it.

Hallelujah. Maybe I won’t go stark raving mad after all.

Fracking is not a solution to climate change ( http://therealnews.com/t2/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=31&Itemid=74&jumival=15774 ) but something not discussed with the public by industry/militaries is the toxic ramifications of their excessive activities due to poisons added and concentrated ( e.g., Canada’s proposed Great Lakes nuclear waste dump [ http://www.counterpunch.org/2016/1/15/great-lakes-nuclear-waste-dump-the-battle-continues/ ]; Nestle’s fee-less water extraction is another [ http://www.democracynow.org/2016/2/17/michigans_water_wars_nestle_pumps_millions ] ) in addition to the release of toxins already naturally contained but undone by those extractive activities in the first place. Typically, there is a co-occurence of fossil fuels (e.g., methane gas, oil, lignite, coal), precious metals and rare earth elements ( http://www.world-nuclear.org/information-library/nuclear-fuel-cycle/uranium-resources/geology-of-uranium-deposits.aspx ) with uranium and radioactivity as demonstrated by the Porter Ranch incident ( http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-02-05/fukushima-class-la-gas-leak-spewing-lethal-levels-breathable-nuclear-materi ). Indigenous community representative, Charmaine White Face, explains to Chris Hedges ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsZ70OEzsr4 ) that sites historically designated as “sacred” by their communities can also be part of an environmental toxin containment strategy. Further, White Face explains that the lack of population density is being used by the U.S. CDC as another way to hide from the public environmental impacts of resource extraction and the true status of the U.S.’ health ( http://therealnews.com/t2/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=31&Itemid=74&jumival=15753 ).

Sheezus. If motor art were weather this would be a 5.9 hurricane. What I don’t understand though..where would you drive it?

    >>”[N]o truly effective technical fix exists” for VeeWee diesels blowing NOX? That is truly good to hear. I do hope it is true. If it is not true it is terrible news, but the best PR ‘spin’ that anyone has ever put out; like, a total downer and so-o disappointing.

Do you know what NOX, Nitrous OXide, what VeeWee diesels have been dispersing on the freeways in California is? Do you know what it does? Do you know that California has had four years of Drought? Four Years of Constant El Niño? Four Years of short water, short tempers, short everything, except freeway commutes. Like, the Road-Rage statistics should have been, like, stratospheric. But they were like normal.

It’s for everyone being nitrous-oxide mellow on the California freeways.
It’s like a song, or something. Isn’t there a song? Like “Nitrous-oxide high in Colorado”, except about California…

What do you want to bet the Google-Car was bonging the tail-pipe of the bus and the safety driver didn’t catch on because he was, like, “Oh, wow, man, it’s like going to crash…”?

“47% of the population of Oregon lives in the Portland metropolitan area as of 2013” ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politics_of_Oregon ). The ACLU of Oregon has found that “black people are 600% more likely to be sentenced to prison than whites” in the Multnomah County/Portland area ( https://twitter.com/ChristopOConnor/status/698246308792918016 via @pdxlawgrrrl ). While the Republican Party is publicly debates if the KKK should be part of its constituency” ( https://twitter.com/thekarami/status/704497761958232064 via @Xeni ), the chair of the political party that controls Oregon says “unpledged delegates exist really to make sure the party leaders and elected officials don’t have to be in a position where they are running against grassroots activists” ( https://twitter.com/davidsirota/status/704748805233647617 by @DavidSirota ). Can’t think of a better time for a Green sweep.

    • Evangelista says:

      Go Green,

““47% of the population of Oregon lives in the Portland metropolitan area as of 2013””.

It is probably nearer 57% now, 77% if they have incorporated Tigard-Hillsboro-to Salem into Portland, LosAngeles style, or 87% if they have incorporated to Eugene, or 97% if they have incorporated to Ashland now.

Why so much urbanity in a “Western Appalachia” state? Because the “green” have legislated ‘gasohol’, adding 10% alcohol to motor vehicle fuel, which increases the price of fuel, for the higher cost of making alcohol to add to the fuel (from food-crops, or higher-return alcohol-crops grown in lieu of food-crops), and which addition lowers the thermal efficiency of the resulting mix by about 19%, for which motor vehicles in Oregon use eleven gallons of gasoline, plus one of alcohol, for every ten gallons the same vehicles would use run on straight gasoline, for which the poor can no longer afford to be rural poor for being unable to afford to drive to town.

“The ACLU of Oregon has found that “black people are 600% more likely to be sentenced to prison than whites” in the Multnomah County/Portland area”

In Oregon, as everywhere else in the U.S. now, the Latinos are the Societal Darlings. For this the programs, benefits and encouragements that used to go to black people (and before them to poor whites; i don’t know why they always have to go to one group or another, instead of all the poor, struggling and de-franchized, you will have to ask a leaky-eyed-leek, maybe one of them running the state) are all going to Latinos now.

This new shift in dewey-focus, which left the poor whites nowhere to turn but to crime years ago, when they were shunted so focus could go to blacks, for which the poor white are established in crime. with, now, the poor blacks coming in below them with no one else to look to to help them. This being the post-2008 “trickle-down” United States, the poor white criminals of Oregon are ‘tricklling-down’ the crumbier crimes to the blacks below, just like is going on everywhere else in the U.S., and in every class, from banker and hedge gangsters on down (note that payday-lenders are anomalous, since they are ‘lending-down’, which is a hell different economic model from ‘trickle-down’) to the down-n-out. So it’s the black now who are getting the easy-to-catch street-crime gigs now.

Note that if Oregon’s percent of black incarceratti is significantly higher than national average it will mean a higher average of black charity, meaning more black teens saying, “Mamma, you got so many mouths to feed, and I got no more than a dead goat’s chance getting a job, I’m gonna go get busted into jail so the Man gotta at least do me my food and board.”

“[T]he chair of the political party that controls Oregon says “unpledged delegates exist really to make sure the party leaders and elected officials don’t have to be in a position where they are running against grassroots activists””

if you have reviewed Oregon Public Relation propaganda you know that Oregon prides itself on being “Out Front”, “A Leader” and all that sort of thing among what they call “Liberal” (no connection to ‘liberal’, a non-political word) states of the United States. If you have reviewed Oregon events and recent ‘history’ you should be aware that Oregon is so “Out” and “Out Front” that has a governor whose primary qualification is being asserted “Gay” (no connection to ‘gay’ meaning joyful), and who is (as yet at present) “The Only Appointed (non-elected) Governor” in the United States, having been appointed, apparently primarily for the aforesaid primary qualification of being “Gay”, following a Palace Revolution put forward by the State’s only state-wide (tabloid) newspaper and members of the state’s legislature after the said tabloid and its adherent revolutionaries had failed to prevent the re-election of a governor they did not want and had conducted a corruption-accusation (no proofs, only hysterics) campaign against the elected governor’s girlfriend (not the governor).

Why was the appointee-governor’s amoural gender-bias important at all, and, in fact, primary? Because the chance for “Out Front” and “Out” Oregon to sport the first “Gay” governor was the perfect blinder for the “Leeky” lot of the Oregon electorate, who were so enamoured by the idea of Oregon having a First Gay Governor that they did not recognize the Palace Revolution part of the equation, the replacement of a just-elected State Executive with a legislature- appointed one brought about by key legislators agreeing amongst each other to refuse to work together with the elected governor, and so dead-lock the Oregon government.

Is Oregon the “Leader” its Leeky acclaim it to be? Is the Oregon-Pattern for elected government replacement going to be replicated elsewhere? Would a “Green Sweep” benefit the bovinated electorate of Oregon (or anyone else)? Or would they better benefit from a “Shit Sweep”? Or maybe a Trump Sweep?

What is the point of wishing further harm and suffering to others? Things are bad enough with the current military occupation of Oregon. Time to go in the opposite direction so thanks but NO THANKS!
