FBI’s Problem with Mohammed: Torture and Assassination

Spencer has a must read story on the FBI’s recent training program for counter-terrorism agents on Islam.

I’m going to have a few points to make about it. But for the moment I wanted to (in addition to recommending you go read the whole thing) draw attention to this slide on Islamic law, explaining some of the reasons why it purportedly leads to militancy.

The problem, you see, is Mohammad “ordered the assassinations” of critics and “employed torture to extract information.”

I can imagine how such things would corrupt the people who practice such things.

There are some serious trolls and/or Neanderthals in the comments over at DangerRoom. Wow.

Reading through this piece, I smell Evangelical Fundamentalism all over the place. I looked to see what was around about Gawthrop’s background, but I can’t find any references to his own faith. Also, according to his faculty bio at American Military University, he’s got no academic credentials in religion (BS in Law Enforcement from Sam Houston State U; MS in Strategic Intelligence from National Defense Intelligence College).

That absence might explain a lot.

To borrow from a certain jurist in DC, any decent professor teaching Intro to World Religions or Intro to Islam would not accept this nonsense from a first year religion student. To have it passed off as serious scholarship at the FBI — elective or required — is appalling.

So Cheney, Addington, Bybee, Yoo, AGAG, and Dubya are all secret Muslims?

Wow. They had me fooled. Here I thought it was Obama that was the secret Muslim.

I have been reading the bible cover-to-cover, and have been appalled by the advocacy of violence and “ethnic cleansing” in it.

I know of no comparable material in other major religions, though I am no expert.

There is the famous Passover incident described in Exodus chapters 11 and 12, in which all of the firstborn of all Egypt were slaughtered.

There is the conquest of Canaan, in which God ordered the Hebrews to completely exterminate the Canaanite people — again from the elderly to newborns and fetuses. This is described throughout the book of Joshua as occurring in Jericho and other Caananite cities.

There is the near extermination of the entire tribe of Benjamin by the remaining 11 tribes, triggered by the serial rape and murder of a priest’s concubine by a few Benjamites. See Judges, chapter 20.

These aren’t isolated instances – i could furnish a score of further examples without effort.

I’m not saying that most jews and christians believe this garbage – in fact I have attended many religious services and read my share of religious books – and had no idea of the level of mein kampf-level filth concealed in the middle books of the old testament.

Sounds like a ridiculous hoax but who listens to me?

Best quote in GawthropGate goes to:
    http://barthsnotes.wordpress.com/2011/07/27/meet-william-gawthrop-ictoa-promotes-another-counter-terror-expert/

“Gawthrop also gives Amazon users the benefit of his expertise by posting book reviews.” http://www.amazon.com/gp/cdp/member-reviews/ADR3W35L2U1H1/

Maybe a CRACK team compiled of journos like Tommy Christopher, Max Blumenthal, Jason Leopold and Spencer Asserman can bring shaky video cameras to the 9th Annual International Counter-Terrorism Officers Association Conference Agenda at the
Flamingo Las Vegas on October 20 and after “intelligence analyst” William Gawthrop – who I’m told by Neal Rauhauser/StrandedWind (who read about it a note he found in a hobo’s snuff tin) actually works for Project Vigilant – finishes his lectures on Strategic Themes and Drivers in Islamic Law and the Influence of the Shariah on Law Enforcement they can have shouting matches with him so that we can all be distracted by idiocy.
