Shit I just said that Florence Pan was an Obama appointee. She’s a Biden Biden appointee.

    • dopefish says:

Actually you did say she was a Biden appointee.

Interesting show as usual, thanks Dr. Wheeler.

Peter Pomerantsev’s book about Tom Delmer is well worth the read.

Here is a Pomerantsev Ted Talk hitting key points.

Delmer did indeed succeeded at playing into the sympathies of Nazi supporters, to connect in ways a Western news org couldn’t if they were just preaching their ideals

In addition to hammering Trump on the Qatari jet bribe, Loomer and other Maga have also been going at Bondi over the Epstein pack of progress.

    • Memory hole says:

The possible Epstein files release was a rare instance of Mr. Trump showing some concern and sympathy.
Oddly, it only extended to Epstein’s associates and clientele. No need to damage their lives or reputations over “a lot of phony stuff with that whole world”.
I don’t recall him mentioning the victims.

      • xyxyxyxy says:

The only reason it’s not released in whole is that the only concern and sympathy is his “dignity”.
He’s mentioned the, probably his, victims many times, “they’re on the younger side.”

      • P J Evans says:

If he talked about the associates and clientele, he’d be incriminating himself in a way that *should* get him lots of legal attention.

Dr. Wheeler, could you please tell us who the guy is who has stats on how many Medicaid recipients are in each congressional district or county, can’t remember how he’s calculated it.

Tried to find his name quickly reviewing last night’s video but can’t find that part.

I live in WV and having that information would be amazingly helpful when contacting my reps and sharing those stats in my community.

    Thanks in advance,

    Chicken

We had a severe thunderstorm here in MD with the strongest winds we’ve ever experienced for a sustained period & got an alert as it was happening. Fortunately no one was hurt & little damage but the cats were outside in it the whole time.

You may be right, but I see Krugman, Snyder, Applebaum, Vladeck, Vance, Cox-Richardson, … teaching and think that this is what social media should be; this is evolution.

        • Rayne says:

No. Don’t argue this point here. Each of those folks are arguing against fascism WHILE TAKING FASCISTS’ MONEY AND BUILDING FASCISTS’ AUDIENCE. They don’t have the spine Casey Newton had when he took Platformer off Substack and migrated to Ghost.

          https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2024/01/11/substack-platformer-nazis/

You are Exhibit A why the writers’ continued work you point to on that fascist platform is problematic — you interpret it as legitimization while you feed the fascists’ machine.

Never mind you’re posting self-promo on THIS SITE which has been operating on open source, self-hosted Word Press for approaching two decades, not on Substack.

Allowing Nazi rhetoric and using profits to fund a fascist agenda is NOT evolution but devolution.

The worst part of this is that Substack has been using other people’s work who are not on Substack to drive up clicks. Traffic you’ve encouraged from this site may encourage them to use emptywheel without providing any benefit to this site while undermining Marcy’s brand.

In Europe at the moment. Whenever someone finds out I am American, the first word out of their mouth is Trump.

This one woman from Perth Australia just went on and on about how awful of a human being Trump is. (No need to convert the converted, lady.)

They all say red same: hopefully the mid-term will bring the Dems back into power.

People around the world are paying attention to what is happening in the U.S.

At somebody who worked in restaurants for over a decade as a dishwasher busboy waiter bar back and bartender, I can tell you with authority that 86 means you’re out of that item…

86 filet mignon means we’re out of filet mignon

In Saint-Nazaire, France. Along the beach, streets are named after U.S. Presidents Wilson and Roosevelt and there is a tribute garden to America.

    Why?

Because America liberated Saint-Nazaire from the NAZIs.

It makes me so angry that we have a complete idiot for POTUS currently who is destroying America’s reputation abroad.

    Eff Trump.
