Did Emptywheel compare leverage by the crypto industry to leverage by AIPAC? I couldn’t tell if she said “AIPAC” or apec(?).

The votes by Cory Booker are really baffling to me.

And not one report or reporter except Marcy discussed the probable impact of Hunter’s trial on Joe given the number of children he’d lost. I lost one son & I would be a blithering idiot were I to lose the presence of another. And the need to have your children present as you age only increases.

The trump admin as a whole wants to put on a show for MAGATs & setting up situations which bring to mind thriller movies like Nick Cage’s ConAir or any given disaster movie appeals to his ‘filmmaker’ instincts, which I believe he recently claimed to possess. The drawback to us is the reality of real people undergoing the trauma he inflicts but to him & his ilk that’s the thrill of power.

Also, regarding Patel and Bongino and Bondi and Epstein Files, there has been a lot right wing criticism of Bondi over the Epstein Files, and her perceived role to be covering something up.

Recently, Bongino and Patel did the hostage video stating that Epstein killed himself. A lot of right wingers blew up, pissed at Bongino and Patel for their perceived role in covering up Epstein.

One thing that I find curious over here is who is not pissed at Bongino and Patel: Laura Loomer.

Loomer launched multiple attacks on Bondi (as she calls her “Blondi”).
    Examples:

    https://archive.is/lfb9g

But, Loomer has not launched similar attacks on Bongino and Patel. Right wing conspiracy theorist propagandists should all be going ape that Trump’s hand selected FBI directors are pushing an Epstein killed himself narrative, perpetuating the deep state control over the truth protecting pedophiles. Alex Jones and Tucker are doing so, for example.

Just odd to me. Should be a slam dunk for Loomer. At the relevant times, she did the Comey-assassination thing, and went hard at Biden cancer conspiracy. But on Patel/Bongino joining the deep state cover-up of Epstein’s death, Loomer is like Sacha Barron Cohen’s Eli Cohen abstaining from the excesses.

Here is recent tweet of hers going at “Tucker Qatarlson”.

In Tuesday’s Democratic primary for DA in Philadelphia, PROGRESSIVE incumbent Krasner won (64% to 36%) all demographics.
Except “in majority-white wards where more than half of voters lacked college degrees”, better know as the “I love the uneducated”, where he lost 28% to 72%. The opponent, former judge Dugan, ran as a never-Trumper despite the fact that Republicans and some unions were endorsing him.

His crypto dinner/grift was personal but he made sure to have the presidential seal on the podium which of course his enablers will regard as cover…

Multiple news media outlets are reporting that Barron Trump was rejected by Harvard and THAT is the real reason why Trump is going after Harvard.

The Atlantic has article pointing out that the Trump regime is using a strategy they call “legalistic non-compliance”.
    https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2025/05/legalistic-noncompliance/682927/

We have spent the past few months surveying the second Trump administration’s practice regarding court orders and reviewed dozens of cases. We observed a clear pattern: The administration uses the language of the law as cover to claim that it is complying with court orders when in fact it is not. We call this “legalistic noncompliance,” a term intended to capture how the administration has deployed an array of specious legal arguments to conceal what is actually pervasive defiance of judicial oversight. It is a powerful strategy, as it obscures the substance of what the administration is doing with the soothing language of the law.

The article links to this page with a paper surveying a bunch of examples where the Trump gov’t is doing this.
