“Strap Up, Cowboy:” Will Donald Trump Oust Cory Mills?

Donald Trump, who was charged for obstructing the certification of Joe Biden’s vote on January 6, 2021 and who pardoned 1,500 of his fellow Jan6ers — hundreds of whom assaulted cops — on his first day on the job, will hold a press conference today to announce he will put criminals in DC in jail where they belong. “The Criminals, you don’t have to move out. We’re going to put you in jail where you belong. It’s all going to happen very fast.”

Trump also promises to evict the unhoused — people like Taylor Taranto, who was living out of his van when he took the address for Barack Obama that Trump posted on Truth Social and started stalking Obama’s Kalorama neighborhood. Trump pardoned Taranto’s January 6 trespassing charges, but not the weapons charges tied to Obama.

Trump must, then, be promising to oust Cory Mills.

Back in February, police responded to a call at Congressman Mills’ home and found (one of) Mills’ girlfriends with “visible injuries.”

The first police report, provided to News4 by a source and confirmed by a second source familiar with the investigation, said: “(Her significant other for over a year) grabbed her, shoved her, and pushed her out of the door.” The report says she showed the officer “bruises on her arm which appeared fresh.”

The first report goes on to note that during a phone call between the significant other and alleged victim, she “let officers hear Subject 1 [now identified by MPD as Mills] instruct her to lie about the origin of her bruises … Eventually, Subject 1 made contact with police and admitted that the situation escalated from verbal to physical, but it was severe enough to create bruising.”

When police arrived, the woman was in the lobby of the Salamander hotel next door. The report says an officer was “able to immediately identify [the alleged victim] out of all other patrons in the lobby by her demeanor: physically shaking and scared.”

According to the report, the responding police officer told the subject he would be placed under arrest. But then the woman approached police and recanted the details, including where the bruises came from. News4 reached out to the responding officer but has not heard back.

After the girlfriend, Sarah Raviani, backed off the allegations, the US Attorney’s Office — then led by Eagle Ed Martin– refused to sign an arrest warrant.

A spokesperson for MPD said Monday the department sent the U.S. Attorney’s office a warrant for Mills’ arrest, but that warrant was never signed.

When asked about it, Eagle Ed — who was made head of DOJ’s weaponization after Republicans refused to confirm him as US Attorney, has espoused a “name” and “shame” approach for Trump’s political enemies who cannot be charged — declined to comment, stating, “it is improper to discuss cases before criminal charges are filed.”

Cory Mills denies the assault allegations in DC.

The assault allegations in DC led another of his then-girlfriends, Lindsey Langston, to break up with Mills. In a complaint filed in Florida, she alleges that Mills has threatened to release revenge porn against her.

Mills continued to harass Langston for months, she reported to police last month, despite repeated requests to be left alone. As part of a police report she made on July 14, 2025, she provided local and state investigators with timestamped digital evidence to support her allegations, which she also shared with Drop Site.

“The threats from Cory intensified over time,” she told Drop Site. “From emotional manipulation, to physical violence against whoever I date in the future, to threats of having me stripped of the Miss United States crown… something I worked extremely hard for and a dream that was placed in my heart long before I even knew who Cory Mills was.”

The evidence covers months of interactions and includes text messages in which Mills—who says he separated from his wife in 2022—warned Langston he posed a threat to anyone she wanted to date in the future (“Strap up, cowboy,” he said in one text) and threatened to release private images shared in the context of their relationship. Langston submitted the evidence to back up an incident report she filed with the Columbia County sheriff’s office last month.

“Since February 20th of 2025 Cory has contacted Lindsey numerous times on numerous different accounts threatening to release nude images and videos of her, to include recorded videos of her and Cory engaging in sexual acts,” the police report says.

Drop Site sent a detailed comment request to Mills, who said the accusations were untrue. Before he replied to Drop Site, Mills called Langston from Raviani’s number, then sent several text messages asking her to take back her allegations, saying, “Only you can stop this,” and “I understand you [sic] mom is going through a lot of mental health issues.”

Trump mostly is making today’s announcement because Ed “Big Balls” Coristine was assaulted recently after some teenagers attempted to steal his girlfriend’s car.

DC’s Metropolitan Police did arrest two of Big Balls’ alleged assailants.

But if Trump wants to pretend to care about crime in DC — the kind of crime he has personally stoked — then surely he’ll at least oust Cory Mills?

    How ironic.
Trump only just pardoned over 1500 “DC criminals”. Releasing those imprisoned for violence from jail.

I think I want to change my account name.

    But, anyway…

I think the pattern with the Trump admin is very simple and clear. They are attracted to personalities and mindsets that will do violence. It’s the white supremacist recruitment requirement. Police and military fit the bill, along with other citizens.

The problem is people who have potential for violence are intensely unpredictable and stupid.

Think of the alligator facility in Florida.

  3. Ginevra diBenci says:

Oh, come on. Everyone knows that when it’s committed by a male MAGAt against a dumb broad (or two, or three if you count the wife), it doesn’t count as a crime. That makes it a “qualification”–for jobs like Trump cabinet positions, Senate runs in guaranteed red states, and paid sinecures at those metastasizing think tanks where no one is capable of thinking but somehow the nation is tanking.

Cory Mills has elevated himself, via the police blotter, to a position of influence. Violence against women will do that for a white man in the Trump era.

      …and meanwhile, this:
      https://www.vanityfair.com/news/story/pete-hegseth-reposts-controversial-pastor-comments-about-women-and-voting

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reposted, with an endorsement, a video of pastors associated with his church saying that women shouldn’t vote, sodomy should be illegal again across the nation, and that each town, each state, the nation, and the world ought to be Christian.

“All of Christ for All of Life,” Hegseth wrote on X.

Doug Wilson, the uber-pastor of the cult Hegseth belongs to, has had several marital rape cases in his home church, in Moscow ID, with him always defending the rapist husband.

It’s sickening, and it’s fully in tune with Mills’ persona. Makes me wonder if he’s a closet “Kirker.”

To crib Carville, “It’s the theocracy, stupid.”

Note: the second half of that blockquote (starting “Doug Wilson”) isn’t meant to be within the blockquote, it’s my further commentary on it. My blockquote codes looked correctly positioned in the edit, so I don’t know what happened.

Unfortunately, a fact of our democracy is that such Neanderthal attitudes appeal to many voters. Case in point.

      • Ginevra diBenci says:

There’s no such thing as marital rape to these guys (and, unfortunately, too many gals). To them, wives are property, and “rape” is a crime only insofar as it represents the seizure of another man’s goods. If you’re female and have bought or been indoctrinated into this belief system, Trump’s “I’ll be your protector” promise might very well have a sort of visceral–or lower–appeal.

I mean, once your vote’s been shorn away, what else have you got?

  4. PedroVermont says:

It’s almost like they come up with something every day just to piss off Liberals. Now just 3 1/2 more years of this. Great.

Democrats are rightly seething at the idea of the NG patrolling D.C.- it’s unnecessary and cruel to those who are homeless and living on the streets. How about instead of troops Trump invests in better education and promoting healthy families in our capital?

And no, Cory Mills needn’t worry about the National Guard knocking on his door.

    • P J Evans says:

UBI would help people a lot, especially in areas where housing takes as much as 90% of your income, if you’re not wealthy.

      • PedroVermont says:

Yes, UBI would be an enormous benefit for low income families. I think the chances of that are practically nonexistent though. Republicans would obviously oppose it, and I have not heard many Democrats advocate for it. More likely are guaranteed government jobs for people who want to work, but can’t find a job. I think that would have more public support and be easier to pass through Congress.

        • Ginevra diBenci says:

Democrats are afraid of being labeled “socialists.” Seems like the time has come to shed that stance. Maybe they could start by embracing the term “liberal.”

        • BRUCE F COLE says:

          To GdB:
I think shedding the fear of “socialism” will have to be accompanied by the shedding of neoliberalism by the Turd Way contingent. Hell, Nancy Pelosi couldn’t even bring herself to stop Member stock trading when she had the wheel.

Lots of shedding needs to happen. Catastrophes have a way of catalyzing that. I consider the Democratic Party numbers being the the sub-shitter right now being a type of catastrophe that fits the bill.

    • Fancy Chicken says:

James, I’m going to make a possibly wrong assumption about what you mean when you ask “Where is this all going?”

I think you mean that in the context of where all Stephen Miller has in mind to put guardsmen or militarizing police by taking federal control of them. That’s probably what most folks would think too.

But for me, I hear, what further steps is Trump going to make to take budgetary and operational control of the District.

The District, which has always been heavily center/center left politically in my lifetime, is nearly 50% black, has a large homeless population (with a high proportion of veterans, many with the story that they came to DC when they became homeless believing that in DC they would find the help to get them off the streets because they were veterans.), and has protests daily of one kind or another.

There are already nearly 40 federal and local law enforcement agencies active in the District. The DCMPD has around 3,800 officers with the largest per capita ratio of officers to citizens with 543 officers per 100,000 residents. In the Triangle up to Chinatown, the Secret Service is ubiquitous.

Not only is a Trump goal to MAGAfy the District culturally, which means using those 3800 officers he just took control of to terrorize half the District’s residents, and make protests Dear Leader doesn’t like looking like the end of Zuccotti a weekly event.

Will he declare Lafayette Park part of the grounds of the White House to keep protesters from coming too close? With the hundreds of protest that take place every year in the District, very, very few ever involve violent police action. DCMPD in my experience is pretty casual about protests as they see them everyday and aren’t enraged by any of them.

All that will end. Trump is doing this now with the Corsine attack as a pretext for the fall when people finally have had it with him on any number of issues and start large scale protesting. Shoot them in the knees.

But there is a vastly more frightening scenario than Trump trying to MAGAfy District culture that literally keeps me up at night and I don’t understand that the only discussion of the MAGAfication of the district are rather puffy stories about liberal tears.

Where is the discussion that it seems like a really bad idea to let an autocratic regime physically take over operational control of the capital and all the most important levers of government that reside there without serious pushback from the citizens and their leader who believe in democracy.

If Trump takes the District’s independence, it’s time to start drawing up the battle plans we should have started gaming out as soon as we knew he won. Because if he takes the District as part of his personal fiefdom he’s declared war on all of us.

      • Matt___B says:

He’s hopeful to transform DC into the first “new” confederate-MAGA state/territory? Ah, an American land grab…

        • earlofhuntingdon says:

Next thing you know, Trump will return Arlington to Robert E. Lee’s family, and move the bodies to El Salvador for safekeeping, after first carving out a nice plot for another Trump Tower hotel.

      • Matt___B says:

Also, if he’s paranoid enough (and he very well may be), he probably wants to get the National Guard in place ahead of large-scale protests coming down the pike relatively soon in DC.

    • Thequickbrownfox says:

He intends to use the military as a permanent part of ICE’s migrant enforcement, and he’s planning to do it nationally. He already has troops on the border and he had the trial run in LA (there are still NG troops under federal command there).
This will be used as a pretense to do the same in cities all over the country, and specifically in cities that defy him by having declared themselves as sanctuaries.
Really, he told us at his presser today. He specifically mentioned a list of blue cities in blue states where he is planning a takeover. He’ll federalize the state NGs and add regular troops to the mix, just what he did in LA, where mostly peaceful demonstration was seen as insurrection.
Remember what Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts said about the ‘new American Revolution’. It will be bloodless, “if the left allows it to be”.
      That’s the plan……

      • P J Evans says:

He’s going to need a *lot* more troops to do that in all the places he wants to do it. (California is more than 10% of the national population. And the third-largest state, in land area.)

    • Memory hole says:

Oh, NOW he wants to call in the National Guard. I remember a day not too far back when thousands of violent, and many armed, members of coup attempt were beating police officers to near death.

They were trying to find Congressional members and a Vice President to kill them.

People were in full panic survival mode, desperately trying to get Mr. Trump to call in the Guard.

Alas, it was not to be. Trump stubbornly refused calls for help while enjoying the tv feed of traitors beating police officers.

Mills is safe under the IOKIYAR: It’s OK if you’re a Republican doctrine which is clearly Original Intent.

    2024
    Cory Mills (R) – 56.5% – 233,937
    Jennifer Adams (D) – 43.5% – 179,917

If the GOP ousts Mills soon, then they would (should?) be looking to fill the seat via a Special Election.

Yet, they will also have to wonder what are the chances of the Democrats flipping the seat in the Special Election since the edge that he had in the 2024 Election doesn’t look overwhelming.

If the GOP decides to Slow Walk removing Mills to avoid a Special Election, then they run the risk of more negative news coming out about Mills and the Democrats possibly flipping the seat in November 2026.

Ousting Mills soon gives the GOP two chances (Special Election and November 2026) to turn the situation around.

If they Slow Walk to avoid a Special Election, then they will have only November 2026 to turn the situation around.

MAGAts at Fox News absoultely believe Trump’s lie that he offered Speaker Pelosi national guard troops on J6. Trump never made such an offer, and Pelosi never rejected it, as Trump has claimed – yet MAGATs beleive its true.

How can our country come together if some citizens beleve the lies and progands of the people they hold as truth-tellers? This is why MAGAts believe that conservatives won the civil war. This is why MAGAts thnk the founding fathers were conservative. This is why MAGAts think that Trump offered guard troops to Nancy Pelosi who turned them down.

It is so frustrating. I don’t think our country will or can ever overcome this situaiton.
