What ELSE Mukasey Declines to Prosecute: Sexual Assault of a Subordinate

I've just gotten through the first Department of Interior IG report, and wanted to pull out these few discrete details as an example of what Attorney General Mukasey has declined to prosecute. The first report describes the corrupt acts of Gregory Smith, who managed the Royalty in Kind program. In that program, companies drilling on Federal land, give the government oil or gas, which the government then contracts to sell in lieu

As the Lies Pile Up, McCain's Former Fans Increasingly Repulsed by the Cynicism

McCain has managed to get the press worked up by his repeated lies. But one by one, his former supporters in the press are growing fed up with the cynicism of his campaign.

McCain, Bush and Palin - The Freeloading Riches Of The GOP

/
bmaz
Turns out Sarah Palin has a very spotty attendance record in her brief experience as Governor of Alaska. This is a common thread between Bush, Palin and McCain; none of them are ever at their job. When every element of our society is flatlining, they are constantly MIA from their job, and they seem to feel entitled to do that on the people's dime.

If You Had Any Doubts the "Attacks" on Palin Were Manufactured Bullshit ...

John McCain just doubled down on his attack on truth and the press by introducing a "truth squad" that in fact manufactures fake attacks out of common colloquialism. It's an attempt, no doubt, to cow the media into backing off its actual reporting on

Sarah Palin Has Failed in Her Primary Role as Commander-in-Chief of the Alaska National Guard

According to the guy that Sarah Palin just promoted as his opinion about her flip-flopped, Sarah Palin's primary role in serving as Commander-in-Chief of the Alaska National Guard is in ensuring the state meets its recruiting goal. Only the state has the worst recruiting record in the country.

Secessionist Sarah and Her Stay-at-Home Subsidies

As you've heard, Sarah Palin has been billing AK for her trips home to Wasilla. I'm most interested in what that says about her ties to the successionist Alaska Independence Party.

Marc Ambinder thinks it's just too bad that voters haven't figured out that McCain is basing his entire Sarah Palin show on shameless lies.

Both the Democrats and the new Republican VP nomination are busy trying to pull off some jujitsu on energy issues. Your guess is as good as mine who will be more succesful.

McCain is MIA; Believed Hidden Behind Palin's Skirt

/
bmaz
John McCain has always had a schizophrenic relationship with women. He has constantly painted himself as the randy, tough flyboy, but, as both he and his mother (and everyone else who seems to have knowledge) readily admit, he was, and still is, a flat out mama's boy all the way. Now, the emasculated flyboy McCain has found an even bigger skirt to hide behind, that of Sarah Palin.

Can it possibly be true that the moose hunting governor from the north is really a elitist latte fan?

Rather than Vetting Palin, McCain Will Orchestrate a Cover-Up of Her Abuse of Power

/

It says a great deal about how McCain would govern that--instead of making a considered, rational decision, he instead decided to cover-up the negative aspects of his choice for VP.

The Devil Went Down To Georgia

/

Well, okay, it was Dick Cheney. Close enough. Cheney, was in Georgia's capital, Tbilisi, yesterday to underline America's "deep and abiding interests" in the Caucasus, and announce a billion dollars of aid, in the face of Russian warnings that any western moves to rearm the country, or bring it into NATO, could bring further instability in the region between Moscow and Washington. Vladimir Putin thinks the US ginned up the recent war in Georgia in an effort to aid a certain candidate in the coming US election. I wonder who that could be?

AdNags and Rutenberg present a bunch of evidence for how the McCain camp is still incompetent. And then use it to extol the competence of Steve Schmidt.

The Politics of Resentment

Among other weak and strong attacks on McCain-Palin, Biden's beginning to undermine the Republican politics of resentment.
