The USA Purge: DOJ’s IG Punts
The long-awaited DOJ IG investigation appears to be a punt.

Say, did any of you notice how badly I did with predictions last week?
So here are my predictions for the week: Carolina will beat a beat up Vikings team. The fifth-round college backup coached by BillBel will notch another win.
And about that 0-3 of the title? On paper, by all reasoning, the Chargers should beat the Jets.
Several of McCain’s mistakes last night–such as his inability to pronounce Ahmedinejad–are excusable. But I think McCain’s two gaffes on Paksitan deserve far more attantion.
Murray Waas reports that DOJ investigators are trying to figure out whether Alberto Gonzales fictionalized notes of the March 10, 2004 Gang of Eight briefing to provide a rationale for Bush reauthorizing the warrantless wiretap program without Comey’s approval. But it appears that Gonzales did so, as well, to invent a reason why he and Andy Card went to the hospital later that day.
Great format–kudos to Jim Lehrer.
And seeing an entire airport full of people rapt, watching this debate–we might yet get democracy back
This timeline is incomplete. But since these events have been in the news again, I thought I’d throw it up.
I guess McCain’s staffers ultimately failed in their attempts to keep McCain away from the craps table through the whole election season, huh?
I think John McCain bagged on this threat to blow off the debate tonight because he thought risking Haley Barbour’s ire was more dangerous than total economic collapse.
Herbert Hoover, as President fucked up a response to a financial crisis. McCain’s done him one better: fucked up a response to a financial crisis even before he became President.
I think we’re entering into the phase where the federal government starts printing wheelbarrows full of cash.
